This election year: Volunteer for Speakers Bureau and make a difference

Published on 5/13/2026

Educating voters about how, when, where and why to vote is the top mission of the League of Women Voters, and a key  way we do that is through our Speakers Bureau every election year.

Our goal is to reach more people in 2026 with fact-based, nonpartisan information in free presentations.

In past election years, our trained volunteers have appeared at dozens of meetings – homeowner associations, retirement communities, libraries, community centers, classrooms – in person and via Zoom.

Research tells us that an in-person experience talking about voting provides the most powerful motivation for a voter to follow through.

Our volunteers are critical to making the Speakers Bureau a success.

We need more volunteers to be trained in the election-year Decision 2026 program. We offer several
other programs and are also seeking volunteers for these topics.

Speakers Bureau is a great volunteer gig in an election year because:

  1. Once you’re trained, you volunteer for specific engagements, choosing when and where you’ll appear. You can fit this volunteer work into a busy schedule.
  2. You joined the League to make a difference. With this activity, you’ll have a way to reach voters and be part of how the League gets out the vote for the election.
  3. You’ll have conversations that will offer you insights into our community.

How to join the Speakers Bureau.

There will be two programs to introduce you to how the Speakers Bureau works and some general guidelines. Training on specific programs is on Zoom. We make sure all speakers are comfortable and knowledgeable and can answer questions accurately.

The programs are

  • Saturday, June 6, 10:30 a.m. to noon at Riverland Branch Library, 2710 W. 2710 Davie Blvd., Fort Lauderdale 33312
  • Monday, June 15, 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Pompano Beach Branch Library, 50 Atlantic Blvd, Pompano Beach 33060
