What is the deadline for registering to vote for an election?
· Registration deadline is 29 days before an election.

Do I have to register as a Democrat or Republican?
· No, you can register with a minor party or as a No Party Affiliate (NPA).
· However, because Florida is a Closed Primary state, if the election is a primary election, you will not be able to vote unless you are registered with a major party.
· You can update your registration online at https://registertovoteflorida.gov/home (English and Spanish). This must be done 29 days before the primary election.

Why should I update my voter registration?
· You have moved since you registered or since the last time you voted. Where you live determines who represents you in the U.S. House of Representatives, Florida Senate and House, Broward County Commission and Broward School Board, as well as within the city you live.
· Your signature has changed and you plan to use Vote-By-Mail.
· You have changed your name.
How do I register to vote for the first time or update my voter registration?

The best way to register to vote is to do it online at https://registertovoteflorida.gov/home You must have a valid Florida Driver License or Florida Identification Card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and know the last 4 numbers of your Social Security Number. By registering online, the signature on your Driver License or ID card becomes the signature of record for voting. PRINT FORM & MAIL
If you do not have a Florida Driver’s license or ID card, then you will need to print the voter registration form, in either English or Spanish, complete the form and mail.

If submitting the form by mail, you ONLY have to supply the last four numbers of your Social Security Number. You MUST complete lines 1 through 7 and line 12 (signature AND date). Other information, such as telephone number, sex, political party selection and ethnicity, are optional.

CALL TO REQUEST FORM
You may obtain a voter registration application by contacting the Broward County Supervisor of Elections main office at 954-357-8683. They will mail you the form, which you then complete and mail back to the SOE office.
How do I know I have successfully registered to vote?
· Once the information on your application is verified and deemed complete, the Supervisor of Elections (SOE) office will mail a voter information card to you. You do not need this card to vote; it is strictly informational. If you register online, the card should be issued no later than 5 days after receipt of the application. It will take longer to receive this card if you only use your Social Security Number for registration, as the state must confirm your identity. It will also take longer if you mail your application. You can also check the Broward SOE website at www.browardvotes.gov, then click on the “My Voter Info” button. After filling in the required information, if you have been successfully registered, your voter record will be shown.
What is a Voter Information Card?
· This card signifies that you are a registered voter. It is strictly informational. It is not needed to vote, and it is NOT an identification card. It does inform you of the precinct number (polling location) where you would vote on Election Day. The card also tells you the US Congressional District, Florida Senate and House Districts, County Commission District, School Board District and Municipality in which you are located.
