Three similar names but three very different positions that are important to the running of transparent, efficient elections.
Poll Worker
(From Broward County SOE website.) Election Day Workers are Poll Workers. They are the front-line representation of the Broward County Supervisor of Elections (SOE) office. A voter may never see a full-time SOE staff member, but they will absolutely encounter Election Day Workers at their polling location on Election Day.
Broward County Election Day Workers are highly-trained citizens who are active voters, serving their community and local government proudly. They interact well with the public and work cheerfully and diligently during the hours-long requirements of each voting period.
To become a Broward County Election Day Worker, you must be a registered voter in Broward County, fill out the Election Day Worker Application and attend a minimum of 4 hours of training.

Poll Monitor
Nonpartisan Poll Monitors help make sure every registered voter gets to exercise their right to vote. They are trained to support voters by answering questions, reporting issues and connecting voters denied the ballot to legal resources. Poll monitors are stationed outside of priority polling locations during early voting and election day. They are located behind the 150 ft no-solicitation zone.
The League of Women Voters of Florida is participating in the Florida Election Protection Coalition’s (FLEPC) coordinated nonpartisan poll monitoring program for the 2026 August and November elections. This coordinated program ensures that all Nonpartisan Poll Monitors have the same training and basic skillset and that Florida’s voting rights community has eyes and ears on the ground when and where they are most needed across the state. Poll monitors are connected with a coordination center so that they can respond rapidly to issues impacting voters.
Poll Watcher
(From Broward Count SOE brochure.) Poll Watchers are designated by a Candidate on an upcoming ballot, Political Party, or Political Committee formed for the specific purpose of expressly advocating the passage or defeat of an issue on the ballot.
The Poll Watcher observes inside the polling place to determine if any violations of the election laws occur. If such a violation is alleged, the Poll Watcher is to inform the Clerk on site of the violation.
According to Florida law (F.S. 101.131), Poll Watchers must be a registered voter in Broward County. Applications for Poll Watchers may be obtained through the candidate, party headquarters, or political committee.
