Congressional District 20 Special Primary Election
Why?
- U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings died on April 6, 2021.A notice of a special election to refill this office was issued on May 26 by the Florida Secretary of State.
When?
- November 2 is the primary election for Democratic and Republican candidates.
- January 11, 2022 is the general election, where the winner of the Democratic and Republican primaries will be on the ballot, along with the Libertarian and No Party Affiliation candidates.
Who Can Vote in the Special Primary Election?
- ONLY voters registered in District 20 AND registered as a Democrat or Republican can vote in the primary election.Voters registered as No Party Affiliation (NPA) cannot vote.However, NPAs have until October 4 to change their registration to one of the parties in order to be able to vote in the primary.NPAs can always change their registration back to NPA after the primary election.There are over 100,000 registered NPA voters in District 20.

Is Vote-By-Mail (VBM) Available?
Will Early Voting Be Available?
- Yes, early voting is available from Saturday, October 23, 2021 through Sunday, October 31, 2021, 10am to 7pm each day.
- You can drop off your VBM ballot at early voting location, but only during the time the locations are open.
