FL Supreme Court to finally hear ACLU lawsuit challenging 15-week ban

The effective date of Florida’s 6-week abortion ban legislation is tied to the Florida Supreme Court ruling on a case challenging the constitutionality of the 15-week abortion ban passed last year. That lawsuit argues that the 15-week abortion ban violates the Florida Constitution’s broad right to privacy. Oral argument has been set for Friday, Sept. 8, at 9 a.m.

OTC birth control pills are coming
In a huge birth-control victory, the FDA approved an over-the-counter birth control pill for use by all ages without a prescription. Opill, a progestin-only pill to be taken once daily, is set to be available for over-the-counter purchase by early 2024, according to Perrigo, the pill’s manufacturer. Cost isn’t yet known.
