Committee makes strides in 2023; has big goals for 2024

Gun Violence Prevention ended 2023 having distributed almost 10,000 free gun locks!
So far in 2024, we've already distributed 275 locks to Mental Health America of Southeast Florida, Memorial Regional Hospital, and the Miramar Gun Buyback.
The City of Oakland Park and the City of Miramar agreed to display our rack cards and bumper stickers in their park activity centers and we convinced the Miramar Police Chief to print the stickers created by Sheriff Grady Judd of Polk County that say: Lock it or Lose It! Be Responsible. Keep Guns Safe & Secure.
Our goal is to convince other Broward police departments to print them as well. Another goal for this year is to reach out to every preschool in Broward to ask them to partner with us. Finally, Fort Lauderdale Police reached out to ask us to partner on an upcoming campaign to educate people about locking up guns in cars.
