Climate change affects every person, sector, business, and species on planet Earth. However, not all climate impacts are equally distributed. The effects of climate change such as sea level rise and other extreme weather events disproportionately impact historically marginalized or underserved communities.
The term climate justice acknowledges that climate change has differing social, economic, public health, and other adverse impacts on underprivileged populations.
This facilitation will gather input from Broward County on climate justice and will focus on three questions:
1. Where are we?
2. Where do we want to go?
3. How do we get there?
The discussion results will be reported to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for the Global Stocktake. Recurring every 5 years, the Global Stocktake is among the important activities that the global community has committed to as part of the Paris Agreement.
Join Broward County's Sustainability and Outreach team Light snacks and beverages will be served. This event is open to all residents and businesses residing in Broward County. RSVP is required due to limited space.
