As rates continue to rise and budget pressures increases taxpayers voiced their concerns about affordability, fairness, and the long-term economic impact on families and businesses. Property Appraiser Marty Kiar will share information about tax-saving exemptions, deed fraud and property tax amendments.

April is recognized as Second Chance Month, a national effort spearheaded by Prison Fellowship to raise awareness about the barriers facing the roughly 80 million Americans with criminal records. Join us on April 17, 2026 for an informative lunch and learn with Cecile Scoon and Debbie Chandler on the rejuvenated advisory opinion process for returning citizens.

Despite rumors that mid-cycle redistricting may not happen, we need to continue reaching out to state legislators (Florida Senate and Florida House) to urge them to say NO to mid-cycle redistricting.

The webinar will revisit the recount and will also explore how the 2000 election crisis in Florida led to the creation of the Help America Vote Act, the modernization of voter rolls, the birth of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and a lasting debate over the federal government’s role in elections.

The Annual Meeting is required in the bylaws of the League of Women Voters of Broward County. As a convening body, the Annual Meeting prescribes by its action the basic direction of the organization and its elected leaders. The purpose of the Annual meeting is to: 1). Adopt a local program for the ensuing year 2). Elect Officers, Directors, and members of the Nominating Committee 3). Adopt an adequate budget 4). Transact other business as may properly come before it.

The League will host a Voter Registration/Voter Education table at this community event to bring groups together to inform the public what resources and organizations are out there for them to engage with as well as local officials, students, educators, and community advocates to build relationships, elevate student-centered advocacy, and make our voices heard.
